Overstruck on a takvorin of Levon IV (1320-1341), King of Cicilian Armenia. Parts of the titles of Muhammad I and the Shahada are visible in the obverse and reverse fields; parts of the marginal Armenian legends can also be seen. Album A922. Cf. AC 1627 ff (for undertype). Rare and very interesting as an overstrike. Minor scratches and a scrape on the obverse, otherwise, nearly very fine.



This coin was overstruck on a takvorin of Levon IV, with significant elements of the undertype still discernible - most notably the obverse and reverse legends, as well as the head of Levon’s horse visible in the inner field of the revers.
